Masked Forwarding, Allocation and Domain Registrant Services
EXTERNAL WEB FORWARDING
It is very common to have multiple domains on our systems pointing to the same site on our network, and this service is completely free and can be managed via your business control panel.
However, domains on our systems that are pointed to a website externally will need managed web forwarding.
Two methods are available, you can mask the forwarding domain so that the destination domain remains in the browser, or turn the masking off which allows the forwarding domain to be seen at the destination.
EXTERNAL EMAIL FORWARDING
This is a very popular option with customers, particularily those who have a free email address such as @gmail.com, and dont want the disruption of having to setup email accounts all over again.
If you register or have a new domain, we can forwards this to any current email account you have, completely transparently, this applies to any domain you have on our systems without any other services.
Please note that forwarding is an included option in all our hosting packages
OUTBOUND DOMAIN TRANSFER
Should you wish to transfer a domain out of our systems, the procedure varies depending on registrar used
For all .uk TLD's you will need to provide the new IPS tag and pay the transfer fee invoked by the registrar (Nominet) , this is included within our fee, or you can choose to go directly to Nominet where the fee is currently £80 + vat. .
For global domains, we will provide you with an EPP key, noting that under ICANN regulations you can not transfer a domain unless 90 days have passeed, and 90 days remain on the registration.
We will also need a signed authority and cleared funds from the domain owner before releasing
INBOUND DOMAIN TRANSFER
Transferring a domain into our systems is a simple a totally free process, our online form is here.
For all .uk TLD's you will need to change the IPS tag to TRANSCOMISP within your registrar account, noting that this is your choice, and you can not be prevented from doing so.
For global domains, we will provide you with an EPP key, noting that under ICANN regulations you can not transfer a domain unless 90 days have passeed, and 90 days remain on the registration. Our Enom account is TRANSCOM
During the transfer process, whilst .uk domains from Nominet are almost instantaneous, global domains can take days or weeks to transfer due to delays by some registrars.
DOMAIN OWNERSHIP CHANGE
Registering a domain is pretty easy, but it can get quite daunting when the ownership needs to be changed. There are differing regulations, constraints and requirements for registrars.
This fee is for the process in changing the Registrant information on any domain type, which can take upto 45 days to complete, and requires the strict participation of the current and new owners, and if this should be a domain locked within a bankrupt company, the the crown will also be involved.
In normal circumstances, this charge would cover costs for ownership changes, however, should it become legally complex, you may have t get a lawyer involved. We do not participate in ownership dusputes of any kind.
EXT DNS ALLOCATION & SECONDARY DNS
Normally most of our customers add a service to their new domain registrations, and therefore use our DNS servers by default.
There may however be occasions where you just need to register a domain but point in to external DNS servers, ie, not on our networks. This involves some upkeep and administration so we make a small annual charge for this.
Secondary DNS provides name server redundancy without having to manage your own network of DNS servers. This service is ideal for hosting providers and small businesses alike who run their own DNS servers but require additional redundancy. Having multiple name servers is critical to your presense on the Internet.
With multiple servers your domain will continue to function in the event of a primary server outage.
DNS Unlimited's secondary DNS service is compatible with all major DNS servers including BIND, Microsoft Windows Server, NSD, PowerDNS, Simple DNS Plus, and many others. Users of shared hosting providers that allow zone transfers are also supported.
Price is per domain per month and includes multiple (vanity) DNS servers globally
