Which Airlines Have Left The Star Alliance Over The Years?

Avionics

Remaining the world’s first and largest airline alliance, the Star Alliance was formed in May 1997 and has since grown from five airlines across three continents to 26 total members and 40 affiliates. Today, the alliance serves a combined fleet of over 5,000 aircraft, touching down at 1,290 airports on six continents, and operates over 19,000 flights daily to 195 countries. A founding member, however, Scandinavian Airlines, more commonly known as SAS, is about to flee the coop and join a rival alliance, Skyteam, after its acquisition by Air France-KLM.
