How The US Navy Became The World’s 2nd Most Powerful Air Force
It may be a reasonable (and obvious) assessment to say the US Air Force is the most powerful air force on earth. However, is the US Navy the world’s second most powerful air force? This is a difficult question to answer as, in part, it depends on what context ‘powerful’ means. For the sake of this article, the Navy Air Force and the Marine Corps Air Force will be combined. It should also be kept in mind that the Navy and Marine Corps lack a number of capabilities some air forces have – such as strategic airlift transports, ground attack aircraft, and strategic bombers (in other words, different forces are built for different missions).
